Major Drug Bust in Bengaluru: 16 Arrested, Narcotics Worth ₹5.24 Crore Seized

BENGALURU: In a massive crackdown on drug trafficking, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) and Bengaluru City Police have successfully dismantled a major narcotics network operating across various parts of the city.

A total of 16 individuals have been taken into custody, including 8 persons from other states and 2 women.3,000 MDMA Ecstasy pills (approx. 1.939 kg).230 grams of MDMA Crystals.48.750 kg of Ganja (Marijuana).306 grams of Hydro Ganja SeizedThe estimated market value of the seized drugs is ₹5.24 Crore (with an estimated procurement value of ₹2.62 Crore).

Based on credible information, the CCB’s Anti-Narcotics Wing conducted raids across several police jurisdictions, including Marathahalli, Vidyaranyapura, Mahadevapura, Govindapura, Chamarajpet, S.R. Nagar, and Nandini Layout.

The accused confessed to purchasing banned substances at low prices from foreign nationals and interstate suppliers to sell them at high rates to the general public and college students in Bengaluru. Cases have been registered under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act.

In a simultaneous special operation targeting illegal stay and drug peddling, 9 foreign nationals were detained in Bagalur, Whitefield, Parappana Agrahara, and Madanayakanahalli. These individuals were staying in the country despite expired visas. Following orders from the FRRO (Foreigners Regional Registration Officer), they were moved to a Detention Center, and two have already been deported to their home countries.

The operations were carried out under the guidance of DCP (Crime-02) Raja Imamsimha Kasim and other senior IPS officers, including B.S. Nemagowda, Akshay M. Hakay, Dr. Vikram Amathe, G.K. Mithun Kumar, Saidulu Adavath, and Yatish. The teams were led by several Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) and Police Inspectors.

Investigation is currently underway to track down the foreign and interstate suppliers who were providing the contraband to the arrested accused.
