Bengaluru, December 10, 2025: On the occasion of International Human Rights Day, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Bengaluru Urban, in a commendable collaborative effort with the JS SEVA TRUST, successfully organized a comprehensive legal awareness program specifically for bonded labourers in the region.
The event, held was a crucial step towards upholding the human rights and dignity of this highly vulnerable section of society. It aimed to inform bonded labourers about their legal rights, the avenues available for their rescue and rehabilitation, and the stringent laws against the practice of bonded labour.
Representative from JS SEVA TRUST, praised the collaboration, noting, “Ground-level awareness is the most powerful tool. By taking this information directly to the community, we empower them to recognize exploitation and fight for their freedom.”
The program also involved the distribution of informational pamphlets in local languages and a dedicated session where Paralegal Volunteers (PLVs) from the DLSA provided one-on-one counseling and registration assistance for accessing government rehabilitation benefits.
The event concluded with a strong appeal to the public to report any instance of bonded labour to the District Administration, Police, or the DLSA. The initiative by the DLSA and JS SEVA TRUST stands as a beacon of hope, promising a life of liberty and justice for the most marginalized citizens of Bengaluru.
