The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar, in collaboration with the Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Forum HQ-Delhi JK UT and Foundation World School, Illahi Bagh, organized a crucial Legal Awareness Programme on the Right to Education to mark National Education Day.
The event was held under the chairmanship of Hon’ble Mr. Tasleem Arief, Chairman, DLSA (Principal District & Sessions Judge, Srinagar)
Mr. Sajad Ur Rehman, Sub-Judge/Secretary, DLSA Srinagar, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest
The programme featured addresses by legal experts, including Adv. Laila Khalid and Adv. Dar Kurshid, and school academic coordinators, who discussed the various dimensions and significance of the Right to Education.
In his Presidential Address, Mr. Sajad Ur Rehman highlighted Article 21-A of the Constitution, which guarantees free and compulsory education to all children between the ages of six and fourteen as a Fundamental Right, inserted by the Right to Education (Amendment) Act, 2002.
The event saw participation from the school chairman, President of the Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Forum, students, teachers, staff, and Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) of DLSA Srinagar.
This initiative reinforces the commitment to promoting inclusive, accessible, and quality education, aligning with the National Education Policy vision.
The awareness programme successfully reaffirmed the importance of education as a tool for empowering future generations.
