Even after the US attacked its nuclear facilities and issued a stern warning, Iran, which has not budged, has resumed its attacks on Israel.
This was Iran’s first retaliation since the US attack, with more than 30 intercontinental ballistic missiles hitting more than 10 sites in Israel.
Missiles rained down on more than 10 cities in Israel, including the city of Haifa, the capital Tel Aviv, and Jerusalem.
Sirens sounded in parts of Israel as Iranian missiles hit the city, prompting the evacuation of civilians to safe havens and bunkers.
They have been advised not to come out of their bunkers until further notice. Reports say that more than 23 people have been injured in this attack by Iran targeting civilians.
Several buildings in the Ramat Aviv area of Tel Aviv were severely damaged, with large holes in the facades of apartment buildings. One of the damaged houses was scheduled to be demolished and rebuilt. As a result, there were no residents in the building. Local police said that all those currently in shelters are safe and well.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said the missile strikes targeted Israel’s Ben Gurion International Airport, research facilities and support bases, and various levels of control and command centers.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying that the United States had launched a “dangerous war against Iran” by striking the nation’s nuclear facilities on Sunday.
“The entire world should not forget that America betrayed diplomacy in the midst of the diplomatic process,” it said.
The US statement, which described Israel as “genocidal and illegal”, said it had launched a “dangerous war against Iran”. The US attack was a violation of the United Nations and international law. The US said it “bears full responsibility for the grave consequences and dire consequences of this heinous crime”.
