Srinagar : An encounter has begun in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district, with heavy gunfire being exchanged between hiding terrorists and Indian forces, it was learnt on Friday.
Security forces had launched an operation in the area following specific information about the presence of militants in the Kulnar Bajipora area of Bandipora district. At this time, the militants hiding there suddenly started firing on the army personnel.
The security forces, which later surrounded the area, have converted the operation into an encounter and are giving a befitting reply to the militants. No casualties have been reported in the incident so far, officials said, adding that more details are awaited.
