Global Platform Set to Showcase World-Class Chess Talent
Bengaluru, March 20: Hon’ble Transport and Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy unveiled the official poster and teaser of the highly anticipated “Namma Bangalore International Grand Masters Open Chess Tournament – 2025” today at Vidhana Soudha, during the special event “Kings Meet @ Vidhana Soudha.”

Hon’ble Transport and Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy expressed pride in Bengaluru hosting this prestigious international tournament for the second time. He emphasized that the tournament will serve as a grand platform for showcasing exceptional chess talent and competitive spirit, further elevating Bengaluru and Karnataka’s status on the global chess map.

Soumya, the Organizing Secretary of the tournament, announced that the event will take place from April 10 to 18, 2025, at the Koramangala Indoor Stadium. A total prize purse of 55 lakh has been announced. The tournament, organized. by the Karnataka Legislative Assembly in association with the Bangalore International Grand Tournament Committee, will feature 185 participants from 15 countries. Competitors will include Grandmasters (GMS), International Masters (IMs), and emerging chess prodigies, offering enthusiasts a rare chance to witness world-class competition. The event also aims to inspire young talent and promote chess across the state and beyond.

The launch event was graced by the presence of Dr. Ajay Dharam Singh, Chairman, KKRDB; Dr. K. Govindaraj, President, Karnataka Olympic Association and Political Secretary to the Chief Minister; Smt. M.K. Vishalakshi, Secretary, Karnataka Legislative Assembly; Smt. K.R. Mahalakshmi, Secretary, Legislative Council; and other distinguished guests.

The dignitaries captured attention by engaging in a symbolic chess match on the display board, celebrating the spirit of the game.
