BENGALURU: The state government on Wednesday told the Karnataka High Court that it is considering extending the deadline for fitting high security registration plates (HSRP) to old vehicles registered before April 1, 2019, till August or September.
Additional Advocate General Vikram Huilgol moved a division bench of Chief Justice NV Anjaria and Justice KV Arvind seeking extension of deadline for implementation of HSRP while hearing appeals filed by HSRP Manufacturers Association and others.
Due to the previous order, the state government is not in a position to extend the deadline for implementation of HSRP number plates. Barring any pre-emptive action till June 12. Therefore, the court should modify the previous order, Huilagol said.
After considering the government’s plea, the court modified the interim order passed on May 21 and gave the government freedom to take a decision to extend the deadline.
