Bengaluru: Just as the counting of days for the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 has started, the city police has issued an order that liquor cannot be sold in Silicon City Bangalore 48 hours before the polling and the results.
Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B Dayananda on Tuesday issued an order banning the sale of liquor 48 hours before polling day and result day, from 6 pm on April 24 to 12 midnight on April 26 and then on June 3 from 12 midnight to 12 midnight on June 5. The ban will remain in effect.
The order mentioned that sale, consumption and storage of all kinds of liquor is prohibited during this period.
Wine stores, bars, hotels, restaurants, pubs, clubs or any private places where liquor is sold must be closed during prohibition. Hotels and restaurants will be allowed to sell food only. Strict action will be taken if the rule is violated, the order said.
