Bengaluru : BBMP on Sunday said that public should avoid driving in underpasses during rainy season. This is not the first time that vehicles have been stuck in underpasses, leaving commuters scrambling for safety. However, officials said that the woman’s death has caused serious concern.

“Citizens should avoid driving in the underpasses whenever it rains. These roads are weak during the monsoons. The drainage under the underpasses is poor and water often accumulates during rains. There is an unwritten rule that these underpasses should be closed when the monsoons begin. The traffic police will be informed in this regard,” .

Generally, motorists do not drive in underpasses during rain. However, in this case, we do not know what the thought was in the driver’s mind. It is good to control the underpasses during rains for safety reasons. The Bengaluru City Traffic Police has also advised citizens not to stop under flyovers and underpasses during rain.

BBMP Administrator Rakesh Singh said that a meeting will be held with the heads of all departments to review the situation and find a solution. “Sunday’s incident is disturbing. The matter will be investigated in detail,” he said.

Shilpa, a pedestrian in the city, said, “Where should people stand when it rains?” Not everyone in Bengaluru has cars. Even those in these cars are not that safe. Cars also float on waterlogged roads. When it rains, there are no places for citizens to stand. Bus stations are also not being maintained properly, he said.
