Kochi: Sources said on Monday that the police have taken into custody an intoxicated man who allegedly stopped and abused Kerala High Court Chief Justice S. Manikumar who was on his way home from the airport.
Tijo, who hails from Idukki district and is a driver of a container lorry, blocked the Chief Justice’s car late Sunday night under the influence of alcohol. He was screaming at this time and told Manikumar that this is not Tamil Nadu but Kerala.
Tijo was immediately taken into custody by the Chief Justice’s personal security police.
An investigation has been launched into why Tijo insulted the Chief Justice. However, the police have registered a case of attempted murder against him.
Preliminary investigation by the police revealed that the man lives in Kochi with his family and was not involved in any case in the past. However, the police have interrogated him and he will be produced before the court later, officials said.
