Bengaluru: The state government has given permission to use loud speakers in a total of 10,899 mosques in the state, including 1,841 in Bengaluru.
More than 17 thousand applications were received from mosques, temples and churches for the use of loudspeakers. In this, 10,889 mosques, more than 3 thousand Hindu temples, more than 1,400 churches have been given permission by the government. The government has got the permission for a period of 2 years and the religious centers who have got the permission have to pay a fee of 450 rupees.
In the background of Hindu organizations expressing outrage against the Azan in mosques, discussions were held that the use of loud speakers should be banned in mosques, temples and churches and a rule should be made for the use of loudspeakers. Against this background, the use of loudspeakers in mosques, temples and churches without a license has been banned, and this has been left to the discretion of the local police stations.
