Bengaluru: A 48-year-old security guard committed suicide by shooting himself while on duty at the DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation)campus in CV Ramannagar.
Police said that the incident took place in the early hours of Monday morning and his family claimed that he was depressed for a few days
The deceased has been identified as Kare Gowda, a native of Ranebennur, who lived in Nagasandra along with his family. The incident took place around 6.30 am and he shot himself on the forehead with an SLR gun, police said.
Hearing the sound of gunshots, another Gaurs informed the senior officer and called Baiyappanahalli police.
Karegowda served in the military for 18 years before joining the Defense Security Forces four years ago. For the past few days he was visibly upset and was not talking properly with colleagues. Police said that no death note has been found so far.
He had no problem at work, he did not share any of his problems with his family. Kare Gowda’s wife Kamalakshi has given a statement before the police that no one is responsible for his death.
The Baiyapanahalli police have registered a case of unnatural death and the reasons behind his act are yet to be known.
According to a DRDO spokesperson, ‘We were not aware of the incident till evening and have nothing to share the details of the deceased.
