Bengaluru : High court Justice and executive chairman of Karnataka State Legal Services Authority Justice B Veerappa, and High Court Legal Services Committee chairman Justice BS Dinesh Kumar, along with others, paid a surprise visit to Central Prison –Parappana Agrahara.
Speaking to the media , Justice B Veerappa said that the report was obtained by visiting women and male prisoners separately. Inspection of sanitation, toilet barracks, food supply, pharmacy, hospital, bath houses. Mr. Shashidhar Shetty Member-Secretary, Karnataka State Legal Services Authority told that the visit comes in the backdrop of allegations of prison officials indulging in malpractices and giving preferential treatment to a few inmates for money.
All of the prisons are in proper order during the inspection. That may not be the case. He said that such visits would be monitored in the future.
