An incident where a gunman of a High Court judge lost 10 live bullets and a 9 mm pistol at Upparapet Station has come to light.
Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court Justice’s gunman lost 10 mm bullet and 9 mm pistol at Upparapet Station on Wednesday night.
Kallaiah Mathpathi (42), a resident of Bapujinagar, Vijayapura, lost his pistol. The High Court judge has been serving as a gunman since 2020.
On the 25th he called the judge and asked for two days’ leave as he was to go to the town. The judge agreed to it. Drinking at home at 7pm the same day at 9 p.m. Kallaiah came to Majestic with a pistol, 10 live bullets and clothes in his bag.
Kallaiah had lodged a complaint with the Upparapet station. The police who registered the case searched Majestic but found that the bag was not found.

Since the beginning of the investigation, there has been no consistency in Kallaiah’s statements. Not sure where exactly they lost the pistols and bullets. When checking the CCTV footage at the travel agency, we found no clues, ”a senior police official said.
He claimed to have taken Majestic in a bus from his home, missing the pistol on the bus. He seems to have lost the pistol elsewhere, but is not sure where, saying that we are investigating the affair.
An investigation has been launched against Kallaiah Mathpathi , who served in the army for 17 years. They have not been suspended from service. As a rule, if a person leaves the office on vacation, they must deposit the firearm at the respective unit and obtain a letter. But they don’t,
