Bengaluru: The High Court has given notice to the state government of Karnataka to complete the process of election of urban local bodies by December 30. Also, the High Court has ordered to provide the reservation list by November 26.
The hearing of the case was held by a divisional bench of the High Court today, on the back of the delay in the election of urban local bodies.
Additional Chief Secretary (Urban Development) Rakesh Singh attended the High Court. He informed the High Court on behalf of the state government that we will issue a notification of reservation by Nov 26.
Advocates for the Election Commission told the court that if the reservation notification is issued by November 26, elections will be held by the end of December.
The court recorded these statements and directed the city local bodies to complete the election process by December 30.
