Republic Day: Tight police security at Manik Shah parade grounds; Traffic changes, parking ban in many places

Bengaluru: The Maneksha Parade ground is fully prepared for the grand celebration of the 75th Republic Day in the state capital Bengaluru, with seating arrangements for 7,000 people, security parking, etc.

BBMP Commissioner Tushar Girinath and Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Dayananda informed about the preparations made for this ceremony which is a symbol of patriotism in today’s press conference.

We have deployed 575 officers and 1000 staff including 9 DCP, 16 ACP, 46 inspectors. Besides, there will be armed forces and dog squad. Baggage scanners and 100 CCTVs have been installed. Some changes have also been made in vehicular traffic. Bangalore Police Commissioner B. Dayanand said that we have taken strict precautions to prevent any untoward incident.

38 contingents including 10 school teams will participate in the parade and 1,500 children will participate in cultural events. Those coming to the program should be present by 8.30. Whichever gate is fixed should come from there. Cigarettes, knives, black handkerchiefs, firecrackers are prohibited. He said that we have taken care to ensure that no untoward incident takes place.

Dayanand said that 100 CCTVs have been installed around the ground and security checks have been conducted in and around the Maneksha Parade Ground. Multi-storied buildings and work sites near the grounds were inspected. He also informed that all the police stations of the city have been instructed to be vigilant.

Traffic Commissioner A.N. Anucheth informed that no vehicle parking will be allowed around the ground, he said that vehicular traffic will be prohibited from BRV Junction of Kabban Road to Kamaraj Road Junction from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM. Vehicles coming towards Manipal Center from Infantry Road should take a left turn at Safina Plaza and enter Allies Circle and Dispensary Road. Similarly, vehicles coming from Manipal Junction to BRV Junction should take a right turn near  Junction and take MG Road and go straight to Mayo.

Central Street, from Anil Kumble Circle to Shivaji Nagar Bus Stand. Kabban Road, CTO Circle, KR Road. Parking is prohibited from MG Road, Anil Kumble Circle to Queens Road.

Hegganahalli Karnataka Public School will stage a play “Ee Desha Namagi Endendigi” and 700 children will perform. Kalaripayattu under the leadership of MEG Bangalore and Central Team Havaldar Anish Thomas. A two-wheeler adventure show will be held under the leadership of ASC Center and College team from Bangalore and Captain G. Basco Rajasingam Kamaraj.
