Bengaluru : Home Minister G. Parameshwar said on Friday that the inspector who arrested Karasevak Srikanth Pujari did not violate any law.
Speaking to reporters in the city, he said, ‘Shrikanth Pujari is involved in 16 cases and there is a record of that. He was acquitted in some of those cases. BJP is fighting for such a person. Is he the only Hindu? There are other Hindus too. Can’t you see them? He questioned.
Meanwhile, answer the question about the BJP’s demand to suspend the policeman who arrested Srikanth, and for what reason? The inspector has not done anything against the law. He has only done his duty. Srikanth said that the issue should not be politicized as the arrest is not against the law.
At the same time, he lashed out at the BJP and said that most of the people who have rejected the BJP and elected our Congress government are Hindus. How do we become anti-Hindu? He retorted that the BJP leaders only talk to each other.
There should be a limit to any accusation. We are trying to be fair in such matters,” he said.
Talking about the posting of husband and wife in the same area in the police department, the Karnataka Civil Service Rules and other rules say that the couple should be posted in the same district. He said that he has instructed the DGP to implement this.
