Bengaluru : The state government on Monday said that 42 mobile applications that are harassing the public have been removed from the Google Play Store.

Talking about loan apps in the Legislative Council, BJP MLC DS Arun said that online gaming and online money lending apps are harassing people. He said that especially gaming applications are ruining the education and life of the youth.

Also, it is a matter of concern that celebrities are promoting these gaming apps, which encourages young people to indulge in online gambling, he said.

Responding on behalf of the Home Minister, Health Minister Dinesh Gundurao said that the government has taken several measures to prevent the menace of such apps. He said that 42 apps have already been removed from the Google Play Store.

800 apps are still active.  Gundurao said that since the central government controls these, the problem cannot be solved by the state alone. He said that talks will be held with the central government in this regard.
