Based on the Complaint The Karnataka State Government Had come up with Major plans to Ban smoking in Public Places .
Despite the ban on smoking in public places, many violations of the rules continue to be seen on a daily basis. But, now the government has created a platform to give away.
The government has launched the Stop Tobacco mobile app, where people can take pictures of people smoking in public places and file a complaint through the app. Then based on the photo, the authorities will take action against those violating the rules.
The Stop Tobacco mobile app was launched on Tuesday in association with Health and Family Welfare Services and State Tobacco Control Unit, Media Alumni Association .
Citizens have to download the app from Google Play Store (only available for Android users), who has downloaded the app, click on the picture of the violator and upload it in the app. GPS is enabled in the app. The location of the violation is automatically fed as the photo is uploaded. Then the complaint will reach the tobacco control department of the respective district. Later it is learned that the authorities will take action.
Citizens can file complaints against smoking in public places, sale of tobacco to minors, advertisement of tobacco products within 100 yards of educational institutions, sale of tobacco and sale of cigarettes without warning messages.
Health Commissioner Randeep said that there is a large number of dissidents who are an obstacle to create a tobacco-free generation. Work needs to be done beyond such people. Some people get divorced if advised to quit smoking. Eating sweets does not cause diabetes? They question that. In this way, we have to build a tobacco-free generation beyond those who argue about issues that do not agree with each other’, he said.
Answering the question as to how the violators will be identified, he said, “Currently we are not focused on this.” Steps have been taken to penalize violations at shopkeepers, tea shops, coffee shops, bakeries and other important places. Shopkeepers should issue warnings to violators. Smoking should not be allowed in public.
If there are repeated complaints from the same shop, there are all legal options to close it down. With the efforts of STCC, more than 20 villages in Karnataka have become tobacco-free, where there is no sale or consumption of tobacco, he said.

ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಧೂಮಪಾನಕ್ಕೆ ನಿಷೇಧ ಹೇರಿದ್ದರೂ, ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ನಿಯಮಗಳನ್ನು ಉಲ್ಲಂಘನೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಪ್ರತಿನಿತ್ಯ ಕಂಡು ಬರುತ್ತಲೇ ಇರುತ್ತದೆ. ನಿಯಮ ಉಲ್ಲಂಘಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಕಂಡು ಬಂದರೂ ದೂರು ನೀಡಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗದ ಕಾರಣ ಇಷ್ಟು ದಿನ ಮೂಕ ಪ್ರೇಕ್ಷಕರಂತಿರಬೇಕಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ, ಇದೀಗ ದೂರ ನೀಡಲು ಸರ್ಕಾರ ವೇದಿಕೆಯೊಂದನ್ನು ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಿದೆ.
ಸ್ಟಾಪ್ ಟೊಬ್ಯಾಕೋ ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ಆ್ಯಪ್ ನ್ನು ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು, ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಧೂಮಪಾನ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವವರ ಫೋಟೋ ತೆಗೆದು, ಆ್ಯಪ್ ಮೂಲಕ ದೂರು ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಬಹುದಾಗಿದೆ. ನಂತರ ಫೋಟೋವನ್ನು ಆಧರಿಸಿ ನಿಯಮ ಉಲ್ಲಂಘಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವವರ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಕ್ರಮ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
