Bengaluru: The High Court of Karnataka has directed the state government to complete the OBC reservation and delimitation in 12 weeks for the panchayat elections.
The Court has instructed the State Election Commission (SEC) to issue a notification within one week of completing these proceedings, not to take more than 12 weeks for the State Government to complete the proceedings.

The new law has challenged the authority to decide on reservation for the seats of Taluk Panchayat and Zilla Panchayats, to finalize seats, to carry out the process of delimitation.
The SEC has called for a speedy hearing in the wake of the Supreme Court’s order to hold local bodies elections. The Karnataka Gram Swaraj and the Panchayat Raj (Amendment) Act, 2021, was enacted by the SEC on March 18, 2021.
