Sri Lankan parliament’s decision to honor singer

The Sri Lankan parliament has decided to honor local singer Yohani de Silva, who has received international recognition from the song “Manige Maage Hite”.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, Speaker of Parliament Mahindra Yapa Abeywardena and several other MPs will attend the congratulatory ceremony. The event will be held in accordance with the Health Guidelines, a parliamentary publication said.

The song “Manige Mae Hote” is popular in all parts of the world, including China. She has also been given a chance to become a playback singer for Bollywood songs in India.

The song has been viewed over 183 million times on YouTube, promoting the local music industry in Sri Lanka.
