{"id":1543,"date":"2023-01-16T02:15:01","date_gmt":"2023-01-16T02:15:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anticorruptiontv.com\/?p=1543"},"modified":"2023-01-16T02:15:01","modified_gmt":"2023-01-16T02:15:01","slug":"anti-corruption-tv-impact-bbmp-fines-392-restaurants-hotels-and-pubs-without-designated-smoking-areas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.anticorruptiontv.com\/index.php\/2023\/01\/16\/anti-corruption-tv-impact-bbmp-fines-392-restaurants-hotels-and-pubs-without-designated-smoking-areas\/","title":{"rendered":"Anti Corruption Tv IMPACT-BBMP fines 392 restaurants, hotels and pubs without designated smoking areas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span>BENGALURU:<\/span><\/strong><span> Anti Corruption TV India telecasted Illegal smoking zone in Bengaluru City <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><div class=\"epyt-video-wrapper\"><iframe  style=\"display: block; margin: 0px auto;\"  id=\"_ytid_35354\"  width=\"696\" height=\"392\"  data-origwidth=\"696\" data-origheight=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Y4Qz7NnzUw4?enablejsapi=1&autoplay=0&cc_load_policy=0&cc_lang_pref=&iv_load_policy=1&loop=0&rel=1&fs=1&playsinline=0&autohide=2&theme=dark&color=red&controls=1&\" class=\"__youtube_prefs__  no-lazyload\" data-vol=\"50\"  title=\"YouTube player\"  allow=\"fullscreen; accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen data-no-lazy=\"1\" data-skipgform_ajax_framebjll=\"\"><\/iframe><\/div>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Under a special campaign launched in December 2022, the <strong>BBMP<\/strong> has fined 392 restaurants, hotels and pubs for violating the code of conduct and not having <strong>designated smoking areas (DSAs)<\/strong> on their premises.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The BBMP has mandated designated smoking areas for all restaurants, bars or pubs with a seating capacity of more than 30.\u00a0To prevent smoking in public places, especially in hotels, pubs and restaurants, <strong>BBMP implemented smoking zone rule<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Designated smoking area should have automatic doors, exhaust fans for ventilation to prevent it from spilling over into non-smoking area.\u00a0It should be surrounded by walls on all four sides.\u00a0This area should not be near entry and exit doors and should be clearly marked as &#8216;Smoking Area&#8217;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The BBMP said there are<strong> 2,385 restaurants in the city<\/strong> that have a separate smoking area if they have a seating capacity of more than 30.\u00a0392 Restaurants, pubs, hotels or shops selling food do not have a separate smoking area.\u00a0Officials said that they have been fined<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"content\" class=\"content\">\n<div id=\"wholeContent\">\n<div id=\"storyContent\" class=\"articlestorycontent\">\n<p><span>A total fine of <strong>Rs 1,10,500<\/strong> has been imposed on all food shops.\u00a0Of the total number of hotels, restaurants and pubs in the city, only 58 had smoking areas, said<strong> BBMP Special Commissioner (Health) Dr. K.V.\u00a0Trilok Chandra said.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Bruhat Bangalore Hotel Association (BBHA)<\/strong> president PC Rao said that it is not appropriate to have a mandatory smoking area in non-smoking food places.
