Bengaluru:<\/strong>\u00a0The High Grounds police have busted a Notorious\u00a0\u00a0gang who were cutting and selling\u00a0sandalwood trees<\/strong>\u00a0in the golf club premises in the heart of Bengaluru city.<\/p>\n

Yes..\u00a0Highgrounds police of Bangalore city<\/strong>\u00a0have arrested the notorious sandalwood thieves and have arrested\u00a08 people<\/strong> including the gang leader from Tamil Nadu .<\/p>\n

On August 1, two sandalwood trees were stolen from the golf complex.\u00a0A tree was cut down and transported.\u00a0But they escaped by cutting down another tree and leaving it there.\u00a0A case was registered in this regard at High Grounds Police Station.\u00a0Considering this case seriously,\u00a0Inspector Shivaswamy<\/strong>\u00a0formed a special team to trace the accused.<\/p>\n

Police team that visited the place at first had calculated who might have committed the crime.. They interrogated the accused persons who had previously stolen sandalwood trees and returned to jail. Further to\u00a0 the investigation Inspector Shivaswamy, had got information that Govinda Swamy and team\u00a0 \u00a0came to Bengaluru on August 1 . Later, 8 accused of that gang including Govindaswamy were arrested.<\/p>\n

Bengaluru Highgrounds police arrested the leaders of this gang, Govindaswamy, Mada, Venkatesh, Ramachandra, Wasim Baig, Varadaraju, Ramachandrappa and Nanjegowda and seized\u00a0147 kg worth about 3 crores.\u00a0<\/strong>Sandalwood oil and 730 kg Sandalwood Tree<\/strong>. .\u00a0Out of the eight, five are from Tamil Nadu and the remaining three are from Karnataka.\u00a0At present,\u00a010 cases registered<\/strong>\u00a0in different stations of the city have been discovered since the arrest of the accused.\u00a0It has been found that these accused have committed their acts not only in the city but also in the forest.. This gang had gone to\u00a0Bannerghatta forest<\/strong> and stayed for a week and targeted and felled the trees.<\/p>\n

All the accused are stealing sandalwood trees regularly and have stolen sandalwood trees in Sadashivanagar, Jayanagar, Madiwala, KR Puram, Yeshavantpur, Kengeri.\u00a0The sandalwood oil was seized from a sandalwood oil manufacturing factory in Madakashira, Andhra Pradesh, near Pavagada, Tumkur.\u00a0Police said that the accused were selling sandalwood to the factory.
